The Funding (Expenses & Donations)

1000 Voices is funded solely by donations from individuals. It is not sponsored or financially supported by any religious or corporate organization. I have set up a bank account solely for the purpose of 1000 Voices.

Since the inception of 1000 Voices I have fully funded the event upfront myself. However, with the generous spirit of so many I have been very blessed to recoup many of my expenes. For example in 2004 expenses ran about $5500, and I received nearly $3500 in donation at the event. If there is a surplus (donations exceed expenses), it will go into the 1000 Voices bank account, and be used the following year.

Expenses have averaged $5000+ the past 6 years.

The expenses for the 2006 event were as follows:

Travel Expenses $1,017.60
Rental of Facility $1,624.95
Advertising (Mailings,Banners,Ink, Paper, Envelopes, Labels, etc…) $2,108.13
Copies, bindings for Workshops $500.00
Bottled Water $50.00

I do not plan on ever charging admission for 1000 Voices. In order to recover expenses for 1000 Voices each year, I ask individuals for donations. In order to provide people with something to remember the weekend, we put together our own song booklets every year, and record the event. I do not sell these items, but I will be glad to provide copies in exchange for a small donation to help cover the expenses.
